PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND FOUNDATION FOR CANCER RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONTO HOLD NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROSTATE CANCER
July, 2003 -- The National Conference on Prostate Cancer 2003 is for prostate cancer patients, survivors, family members and healthcare professionals. Internationally renowned researchers and specialists in the treatment of prostate cancer will speak to an anticipated draw of over 1,500 people.
"This conference will be the most significant and the only national conference on prostate cancer this year, directed at both patients and physicians, " says PCRI Executive Director Glenn Weaver. "We will have physicians and research scientists presenting the latest findings in their field of practice including diagnostic techniques, treatment options, nutrition, and new advances in the understanding and treatment of prostate cancer."
There will be free PSA screenings from on Friday, September 5, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, and on Saturday, September 6, from 8:00 am to 12 Noon.
The Friday (10:00 a. m. to 6:00 p.m.), Saturday (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Sunday (8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) sessions will cover such vital subjects as endocrine applications in PC; PSA recurrence; intermittent androgen deprivation; advances in the chemotherapy of PC; Neoadjuvant hormone blockade and radiation therapy; remarkable advances in radiation therapy: IMRT & 3DCRT; bone integrity, bone marrow support, and pain control; emotional support and patient empowerment and a live demonstration of a Color Doppler Ultrasound and Biopsy will be performed on Saturday at 8:20 a.m. The speakers are renowned experts in the research and treatment of prostate cancer from throughout the United States. The Conference is being sponsored by the Prostate Institute of America. Other collaborators and supporters are the American Cancer Society, the California Prostate Cancer Coalition, CaPCure, the Education Center for Prostate Cancer Patients, Inc., the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, Patient Advocates for Advanced Cancer Treatments, Inc., US TOO! International, and Community Memorial Hospital. The cost for the conference is $ 65.00 per person.
